Piper's Lester Leaps In was born on January 12, 2001, and came home with us on March 4, 2001. To say that he up-ended our lives would be an understatement. Having previously owned many Chesepeake Bay Retrievers, we were used to a laid back, albeit highly eccentric, temperament. We had no idea what we were getting into by choosing a Vizsla, and the learning curve was steep indeed. Lester leaped into our life with the force and energy of a hurricane, demanding constant attention, but giving enormous love, affection, and entertainment in return. A whirling dervish who is constantly running, constantly jumping, and constantly making us laugh and shake our heads in wonder. He is a continual joy and, occasionally, the source of maddening frustration. My husband has a rule "never own a dog smarter than you are." We broke this rule with Lester, and he never stops reminding us.
